SJFD put on Fire Ops 101 at the BFO training center in San Jose. This was an opportunity for city council members and some of their staff to partake in what fire fighters handle daily. Some of the challenges were performing tasks " On air" which showed them how much we take breathing for granted while working when you are limited to using a mask and tank. Participants also had the opportunity to use hydraulic tools to cut open a car and also put on full gear to go inside of a shipping container and extinguished a fire. This was all done under the supervision of San Jose Fire Fighters so that no one would get injured. Everyone enjoyed their time, learned lots, then went home very worn out.
